This plugin allows admin to disable anonymous (non authenticated users) browsing of selective posts, pages, feeds or complete WordPress site.

Installation

  1. Upload the folder ‘sn-extend-authentication’ to the ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
  3. You may also refer installation.html in plugin’s directory for more information.

FAQ

I am not able to find the admin settings screen

After enabling this plugin you can find ‘Authentication Settings’ page link under ‘Settings’ menu.

How do I only allow authenticated users to browse my site

Select the option ‘Disable Anonymous Site Browsing’ in ‘Authentication Settings’ page and save your change. This will restrict your site from anonymous browsing.

Where can I enable/disable anonymous browsing at a post level

You can find widget ‘Authenticated Users Only’ at every add/edit post, custom post, page. Admin user need to check/uncheck ‘Show To Authenticated Users’ checkbox and Update post to enable/disable post level anonymous browsing.

I want to enable anonymous browsing for specific posts/content when the complete website is restricted to authenticated users.

Admin user can ‘Disable Anonymous Site Browsing’ in ‘Authentication Settings’ page but priority will be given to post/page specific authentication setting over default.

What will be the impact if I deactivate the plugin

Default feature of wordpress for anonymous browsing will be activated. Setting will remain intact besides admin deactivated this plugin, so that again on activation admin user get same settings.
