It stops fake and undeliverable addresses from getting into your user base, comments and form submissions - which means fewer bounces, less spam and cleaner lists.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Three verdicts, not two.<\/strong> Real mail servers do not always give a straight answer: catch-all domains, greylisting and disposable providers make some addresses genuinely unverifiable. Mail7 returns <strong>Valid<\/strong>, <strong>Not Valid<\/strong>, or <strong>Unknown<\/strong>, and this plugin <strong>does not block Unknown addresses by default<\/strong>, so you never turn away a real person over an address that simply could not be confirmed.<\/p>\n\n<h4>What it checks<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Syntax \/ format<\/li>\n<li>Domain MX records (can the domain receive mail at all)<\/li>\n<li>Live SMTP mailbox check<\/li>\n<li>Disposable \/ temporary address detection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Where it plugs in<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>WordPress user registration<\/li>\n<li>Comment author emails<\/li>\n<li>Contact Form 7 email fields<\/li>\n<li>WPForms email fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Reliable by default<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Results are cached, so the same address is never re-checked (fast, and no wasted API calls).<\/li>\n<li>If the Mail7 API is briefly unreachable, the plugin fails open - your forms keep working, no one is ever locked out by an outage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>API key<\/h4>\n\n<p>Works out of the box on Mail7's free anonymous tier (rate-limited). For higher volume, paste a Mail7 API key in the settings - get one at <a href=\"https:\/\/mail7.net\/\">mail7.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h3>External services<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin sends each submitted email address to the Mail7 API (https:\/\/mail7.net\/api\/validate-single) to determine whether it is deliverable. Only the email address being validated is sent. See the Mail7 <a href=\"https:\/\/mail7.net\/privacy-policy.html\">Privacy Policy<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mail7.net\/terms-of-service.html\">Terms of Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the plugin to <code>\/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code>, or install it from the Plugins screen.<\/li>\n<li>Activate it.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Settings -&gt; Mail7 Validation<\/strong> to choose where validation runs and, optionally, add your API key.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"do%20i%20need%20a%20paid%20account%3F\"><h3>Do I need a paid account?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. It works on the free anonymous tier. A Mail7 API key raises the rate limit and volume.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"will%20it%20block%20real%20users%3F\"><h3>Will it block real users?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Not for unverifiable addresses. By default only addresses Mail7 reports as <strong>Not Valid<\/strong> (do not exist \/ no mail server) are blocked. \"Unknown\" addresses are allowed. You can optionally block Unknown too, but it is off by default on purpose.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20happens%20if%20mail7%20is%20down%3F\"><h3>What happens if Mail7 is down?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>The plugin fails open: submissions are allowed.
