Sorry, but I have rejected your suggested strings for the “IDSK Template” plugin in UK English. The source strings should always be in English if the plugin is to be translated into any other language, unless, of course, the plugin is purely aimed at a local audience.

  As I have just explained, if a plugin is to be translated into any other language, the source strings should always be in English. Please get the plugin author to change the source strings to English. You cannot expect anybody in the English (UK) team to assess the accuracy of your translations if they do not understand the source strings.

    Sorry I’m confused the theme author had written the source in Slovak as a non English speaker. I had translated the Slovak into English to make use of this theme as a native English UK speaker.

      I have tried to explain as simply as possible. Apologies, this is, of course, a theme and not a plugin. If you look at the themes in the WordPress repository, you will notice that they are mostly in English. This is so that they can be translated into any other language. I hope that you now understand.

        Yes this a theme, just not sure why you rejected accurate translations? I understand the majority are normally English as a default but this theme was not. I had translated the Slovak to English so more users both front and backend can make use of the theme (including myself).

The reason that I rejected your strings is that I cannot assess the accuracy of your translations as I do not understand the source language. Only someone who is fluent in the source language would be able to approve your translations.

@markscottrobson maybe you should have left the translations for someone who could ‘assess the accuracy’ instead of rejecting them then? Seems counter productive for me to now have to start again because you rejected over 200 translations and therefore not ‘within the spirit’ of community translation?!

  @iamkris There is nobody in the English (UK) GTE team who is able to do this. WordPress themes and plugins are all designed to be translated from English into any other language. That’s just the way it is. In fact, the source strings are treated as US English whatever language they are in. The only way to get around this is for the theme author to get someone to change the source strings into English and then you can translate them into Slovak. Sorry.

However I can not translate the theme again, the translations as you rejected are being rejected automatically by the system despite them being correct. How do I get the translations submitted previously accepted? #editor-requests @wordpressdotorg

    Hi @markscottrobson I need to translate Slovak to English but the author has now set the language as Slovak. (Yay)
    
    Apparently if I get approved as PTE for en_GB then it will solve my issue?
