Flamingo

Description

Flamingo is a message storage plugin originally created for Contact Form 7, which doesn’t store submitted messages.

After activation of the plugin, you’ll find Flamingo on the WordPress admin screen menu. All messages through contact forms are listed there and are searchable. With Flamingo, you no longer need to worry about losing important messages due to mail server issues or misconfiguration in mail setup.

For more detailed information, please refer to the Contact Form 7 documentation page.

Privacy Notices

This plugin stores submission data collected through contact forms, which may include the submitters’ personal information, in the database on the server that hosts the website.

Installation

  1. Upload the entire flamingo folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.

Flamingo is a decent plugin for message storage with CF7 - it does exactly what it advertises. But we all know how pervasive spam can be - and where Flamingo unfortunately falls short of the mark is in handling bulk spam messages. If that were improved this would be a 5-star review. You can look through old reviews here and see that the first request for a "delete all spam" button was almost five years ago, but this essential feature is still not built in. A little more support from the developer would turn this from a semi-good plugin to a great one. It's evidently common for users to have long-running sites that have accumulated tens of thousands of spam messages, and the only options to remove them are either manually shifting 20 messages at a time to trash (which does have a delete all button - so the feature is almost implemented already) or directly accessing the site database to bulk delete from there. The latter isn't something you want to rely upon in a production environment.

This plugin does what it claims. The only issue is that there's no easy way to delete all the data stored by this plugin. Of course in the flamingo inbound admin page you can delete entries but if you have 10 000 entries it'll take forever to delete them and you'll have to do the work twice because firs you send the entries to trash then you have to delete them forever... Removing the plugin doesn't delete its data. Looking at the database, flamingo use _postmeta table and I gave up trying to delete its data via phpmyadmin. Your database will gain weight and it'll be almost impossible to clean it. I'm looking forward to give 5 stars once this major issue will be solved.

This plugin is great, after using it for approximately 6 months working on every wordpress update so far, I have had a great insight in how much this actually helps out. Since for some random reason I no longer can send mail trough my wordpress website any more, this saved me big time! Being able to view all messages locally is a great way for me to solve not only the mail issue but also to block 100% of the spam that got in my inbox from the contact form on my website, the approximately rate of valid messages revived from this is 1 in 48 messages during 6 months and all of the 47 spam messages were sent to spam! Thats amazing! Never ever had I thought that would be even possible, and I have no ide how that gets verified, but it sure does work. Im proud to tell my competition that I'm using flamingo to solve some of the most common issues using a contact form integrated on a website! Thank you so much for this wonderful plugin! Stopped me from wasting time 47 times ^^

minimal to non-existent support. It had the right idea though but better options out there, can't complain much though. It's free and that's cool.
